I first discovered this way back in high school. My dormmate brought a book and we looked at it for like.. HOURS before i got the hang of looking at the images and bringing out the 3d pictures in them.

Magic Eye is a series of books published by N.E. Thing Enterprises (Renamed in 1996 to Magic Eye Inc.). The books feature autostereograms, which allow people to see 3D images by focusing on 2D patterns. The viewer must diverge his or her eyes in order to see a hidden three-dimensional image within the pattern. “Magic Eye” has become somewhat of a genericized trademark, often used to refer to autostereograms of any origin.

What is this 3d magic eye that i’m talking about? Look at this image. Tell me what you see.

As a normal image you would see many flowers. But if you look at the 3d side of it, there’s a hidden(?) image.. a heart. Where is it?

There are some guides out there on how you can view 3d images. There are 3 ways to see it.
1) Basically you try to look BEYOND the image and when the image gets blurry (don’t blink at this point) and then it will eventually clear up so you can see the 3d image. If you have a hard time focusing beyond the image. Try it this way… If you’re facing your CRT monitor. Look at the glare of the monitor and not the image.

2) Another trick is you use cross-eyed method. In tagalog: magduling ka.

3) Nose-on-book method just means you put the image up to your nose and slowly move the image away. The trick is not to focus on the normal image. You will see the 3d image soon enough.
