How shallow are you? September 10, 2007

Don’t judge a book by its cover
Beauty is only skin deep
Clothes don’t make a man
These are some of the sayings that advise us not to judge by physical appearances. I like to think that i am not shallow. That i don’t pre-judge a person by how he/she looks. But given a real situation, being honest, sometimes i doubt myself.
I have crushes on guys who look good, smell nice, exude charm and basically other positive things. I was reading a pocketbook yesterday and in the story, the guy was exchanging letters with the girl but the girl thought that the person she was writing to was the guy’s good-looking friend. His line was “Had you known it was plain and simple Simon me you were writing to, would you have continued to do so, or would you have written me a letter telling me what good friends we are and then set your gaze to another?”
I really think i don’t look at physical appearances but no matter how i try to be fair to everyone i meet i still cringe inside though i don’t show it when i get close to people who smell bad, etc. Am i shallow?
If you were Kenna (the girl in the story), how would you answer Simon’s question?
